Remember to read, read, read

Should children read during vacation? It may seem obvious, but parents should encourage children and teens to read. The summer is no exception.

Reading is not something that happens without conscious effort. Make time for reading. When parents or teachers read to children, it encourages lifetime habits and appreciation. Summer time is a great time to read for pleasure and expand horizons.

When it comes to reading to your child, new report by American Academy of Pediatrics says start early.

Avoid the summer slide. Young people who do not read during the summer lose a good deal of their gains made during the school year. The Association for Library Service to Children has excellent recommendations for books and websites:
